You’re taking my words too literally. Teachers, neighbors, anyone who knows him or other kids he’s interacted with might be questioned about what type of person he was. There are usually signs, if that’s the sort of person he is.
Black Texas prison shot caller OG says if any person touches Karmelo in prison it’s gonna go BAD for them or their race and possibly spill into the streets.. ie innocent people just walking to work being unalived by black street gangs
...physical intimidation is what non-intellectuals must resort to... Leading with physical intimidation and threats of violence is what Karmelo Anthony did that fateful day -- and look at the catastrophe that then unfolded. It appears as though Anthony and his fans learned nothing from this whole ordeal. Sad really -- a mindset that will condemn generations of family members to poverty and misery.
In TX criminal court, 17 is an adult. 16 is a child. It's too binary and doesn't follow the current science. A 17-year-old that murders someone should be in jail. But the sentence shouldn't be the same as a 26-year-old. And the focus should still be on rehabilitation (but of course, it should be considered on a per-case basis). Heck, a 16-year-old that murders someone should also be in jail. AGE itself is important, but not the MOST important factor in whether the "kid" should be locked away for basically life like an adult murderer, or should be rehabilitated. The system is simply too binary.
1) Rehab is not always possible, but it should always be one of the goals. 2) If the justice system is streamlined to lock people up with minimal process or consideration the rate of false-convictions will go up.
The Chow case highlights just how important it is to have witnesses. With no eye witnesses, it was Chow Sr and Jr's word against no one else's. Similar to Anthony. I assume after character witnesses testified, the jury figured it more probable than not that Chow would not have shot Carmack without provocation, namely Carmack pulling his own weapon first. It's an unsatisfying situation, but we don't throw people in jail on a guess.
i dont think he is trying to intimidate.. HE IS TELLING THE TRUTH my cousin spoke to his brother who is at ramsey unit and he said that after the verdict and sentencing came down. That their was a separation order that was attempted by the state of texas but the BLACK INMATES put their foot down and BLOCKED IT. Because of the result of that decision by the black inmates, every other texas prison was automatically put on Medium to HIGH ALERT. In fact Karmelo was initially supposed to be sent to huntsville for processing because of his age and the state of texas went ahead and blocked that transfer instead transferring him to a unit that normally houses political prisoners.. its a very rarely used unit, so the state of texas apparently has been zeroing in on phone calls of black inmates talking to other black inmates in other texas prisons weeks before this verdict was even announced. This is a very scary time to be an american right now I hope the state doesnt do any funny business by letting harm happen to karmelo by putting him around inmates that want to hurt him and ignite this. VERY SCARY TIMES and if what i was told is correct, in all the prisons right now black and white/latino inmates who have been locked down together for years with no issue overnight the black inmates started ignoring conversations with white and latino inmates out of the blue. Almost moving like these white and latino inmates dont exist. WHICH IS WHAT i think warranted the HIGH ALERT decision
I haven't seen evidence that rehab is actually a goal in our prison system, not all but for the most part it seems convicts are riddled with terrible upbringings and social problems. Democrat based judges then use this to make an excuse for these people's actions and let them go on the basis of victimhood. The problem is never addressed and these lower tier criminals end up getting bolder and bolder because they too buy into the victimhood mentality eventually getting involved into something worse. Rehab starts at the core and beginning of a life cycle not when the person's perception of life is a social construct they must follow because its what they have seen all their lives and been told. Even if lied to. This is a more complicated subject but what shouldn't be complicated is the death penalty and life in prison. None of which should ever be tied to minimal process, if convicted of violent and gruesome crimes its about keeping society safe from said criminals.
Trust me, we know. No, that's habilitation. Rehabilitation is the restoration of lost or missing habilitation.
If it is first degree murder - neither of them should ever get out. Also, no - when you are talking about a seriously violent crime, the focus should not be on rehabilitation. The focus should be on protecting the public first, second should be treating the convict with human dignity - and that includes rehabilitation. When it comes to less violent crimes - then I agree, the focus should be on rehabilitation and growth - because that benefits them when they return to society and it benefits them personally. I have seen too many violent and sexual criminals get out and continue to be destructive to society. There are certainly criminals that commit a violent murder or rape at an early age that do their time and over decades mature and do not reoffend. However, those that do reoffend are extremely dangerous and do pervasive damage to greater society. We had more lenient sentences and parole in the past and it did not work well. Until the culture of the US people and the government changes, I will not support parole for those that have committed first degree murder, sexual molestation or aggravated rape. As it is currently constructed, the only purpose of the government is to allow the economy to "grow" and protect the interests of the ultra wealthy. There is zero concern for the well being of the people, zero concern for education and maturation of the young and there is zero sense of community or shared values.
The aftermath of the verdict has been very revealing, you listen to what most of the protestors are saying and you realize Karmelo Anthony does not have "supporters"....he has "fans."
