Caden Powell just hit his 4th home run of the season for Asheville.

After a poor start to the year, he's come alive in the second month of the season. Big grain of salt though, as much of his damage has come at home (.426/.500/.532 vs. .227/.277/.307 away from Asheville).

Anthony Huezo finished a double shy of the cycle; in addition to his homer, he drove in two more runs with a sac fly and a triple.

Juan Sierra had a huge night as he went 4-5 with 5 RBI; he hit an RBI single, a two-run double, and a two-run homer (6) as Fayetteville beat Hill City (formerly Lynchburg) 17-7.

Miguel Ullola only went one inning for sugar land today, I wonder if he is being shifted to the pen.

He has hurdles to clear but he is the Astros best prospect since at least Tucker.

He is 18 years old and in his first run at A ball. He has his OPS around 800, is hitting with power and his strikeouts are under control.

His body has a lot of filling out to do - but he is already showing lots of power.

Kevin Alvarez went 2-4 with an RBI double in Fayetteville's 3-2 win.

German Ramirez drove in the other two runs with a solo homer (1) and a groundout.

Only three players in Corpus Christi's lineup recorded a hit today in San Antonio... they won 6-5. Trevor Austin and Jason Schiavone had three each, and Lucas Spence had the other two. Both of Spence's hits drove in runs; he had an RBI triple and an RBI single.

These three guys also scored the six Corpus runs; Schiavone scored thrice, Austin scored twice, and Spence scored once. Joseph Sullivan drove in 3 without recording a hit; he drew a bases-loaded walk in the 3rd, hit into a fielder's choice that allowed Spence to score in the 5th, and executed a safety squeeze to score Schiavone in the 7th.

DSL Orange team lost their season opener 2-1 to the Royals’ Ventura team.

Adrian Ardines got a rain-shortened shutout in the FCL; he allowed three hits, walked two, and struck out seven in five innings. Kenni Gomez and Waner Luciano went deep.

Every affiliate was in action for the first time this season.

    - The DSL Blue team blew a 9-4 lead to the Guardians' Mendoza team and walked off with a 10-9 loss. Imanol Feliz hit a two-run double in his first plate appearance as a pro. Omar Damian allowed a hit, walked two, and struck out three over three scoreless innings.

    - The DSL Orange team got their first win of the year with a 7-3 decision over the Red Sox's Blue team. Victor Jimenez, a pitcher from Panama in his second year in the DSL, walked two and struck out three over four scoreless/no-hit innings. Amauri Ramirez drove in three runs on two singles.

    - The FCL squad only had two hits but they beat the Nationals 4-0. Waner Luciano hit a two-run single and then scored on an error after stealing 3B. Jase Mitchell walked three more times.

    - Anthony Huezo hit his 8th homer of the year for Fayetteville, who lost 3-1 to Columbia. Juan Fraide went 4.1 innings in his Woodpeckers debut and allowed two runs on three hits, walked three, and struck out seven. Jagger Beck got the last three innings and allowed a run on three hits, walked one, and struck out five.

The Astros signed another low-level arm on Friday: RHP Bryce Collins. He's currently with Asheville.

Collins, who turns 26 on June 28, was a 39th-round pick of the Twins out of high school, but he went to the University of Arizona instead. He then transferred to LSU and the White Sox signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2024. He did not play in 2025 and was released during spring training this year.

Collins appeared in 34 games between both Class A levels (11 Kannapolis, 23 Winston-Salem) in 2024 and he went 1-0 with 5 saves and a 2.40 ERA. In 45 innings, Collins allowed 14 runs (12 earned) on 35 hits (3 HR allowed), walked 22, and struck out 65. Opponents hit .211 against him that year.

Early game for Fayetteville today... Kevin Alvarez has a two-run single and Nick Potter has 7 strikeouts through the first three innings.

Potter didn't allow a hit, but he couldn't get out of the 4th either because he could barely throw strikes. He walked 4 and it took him 69 pitches (36 strikes) to get 10 outs today.

Xavier Neyens hit his 7th homer of the season.

Ryan Verdugo pitched the final 5.2 innings and he allowed a run on a groundout, the only Columbia hit, walked one, and struck out six as Fayetteville won 4-1. This was his first outing in which he did not walk more than one batter.

7 homers in 40 games is solid.

I am concerned about the 60 strikeouts in 40 games though.

He may be down there for the year and start next year in AA.

What's yall's progression? We went t-ball to pitching machine (1 yr) to kid pitch (started when we were 10/11) iirc.

My buddy found a video of us in kid pitch, and I was so excited to watch it. Then the oppo pitcher threw ball, after ball, after ball, after ball...and I laughed at my 2nd AB when I was obviously a bit anxious to actually swing the bat, the ball basically was bouncing as I hit it.
