We will see how it plays. My intuition is that his presbyterian language won't resonate well with Texas baptists and they'll call him a fake Christian. And all his loving your neighbor stuff will feel like irrational zealotry and make it easy to call him a an ultra-progressive. But I'll let him cook. It's too early!

I wouldn't eat anything cooked by Cornyn or Paxton either.

"I've been eating bbq since before Ken Paxton's first indictment."

In the end it really doesn't matter what MAGA Texas Baptists say because they will believe whatever lies that allow them to stay in their MAGA bubble where they are the heroes saving America from the woke communists. Talarico or any Democrat in Texas has 40 to 45% of the state that will ALWAYS vehemently appose them just because they are a Democrat, and they will be labeled as Satan's spawn. So he should just be himself on the Christianity thing and his faith. Don't back down.

The real question here is how well Talarico can do to turn out Dem voters (he will but how much with younger voters) and how much he can turn non-voting voters of color, especially conservative Hispanic Texans, to create a voting base that looks much more like what you'd see in Nevada, Arizona, and Georgia than what we see now in Texas with our voting population looking more like Florida or Louisiana.

If I was running Talarico's campaign the first thing I would do is have him side by side with Bobby Pulido. As much as it kills me too as I Rockets fan I would make sure he is at the Spurs/OKC game tomorrow rooting hard for Wemby. Like find a way to get IN the Texas culture as much as you can. Be out there, present, and engaged. Don't fake being who you are not, but there's nothing wrong with getting good quick on cultural things you might not naturally be as engaged in.

Also Talarico going on Rogan when he did was a very smart move. That interview is going to continue to pay dividends.

On policy/campaigning, I think he needs to lean HARD into education, and highlighting what Trump/Abbott/Paxton PACS have done to set back public schools. I would encourage everyone to look up a PAC called "Patriot Mobile." Make this be central to your campaign, and make sure everyone knows about Patriot Mobile. In my area that I live, in just two years out VERY RED city has flipped over a Patriot Mobile controlled school board already, and that would not have been possible without young families... including very Republican white dads... voting AGAINST MAGA board members who were all about Trans this and that, because of the attacks on public schools here in Texas.

THAT IMO is the policy position I think moves the most MAGA voters to actually have a chance at taking a chance at Talarico. Education, Education, Education... .I think that's his ticket to play in Texas IMO. Anti billionaire resentment.... of course... I like what he's doing there, but tie it back to Patriot Mobile, and public education all day every day.

Paxton just gets bbq at Rudy's and reheats it in the oven.

I will admit, Rudy's sauce is great, because it has to be to make their bbq somewhat edible.

As far as chain BBQ goes, Rudy's is the only one that's remotely edible...and I agree about their sauce. It is good.

They do produce a decent breakfast taco, though.

Bro... Paxton was impeached by his own party Texas cuz he stole taxpayer money to help cover up an affair.. He's one of the most corrupt senate candidates in modern history. Dems need to go all in on the anti corruption angle

Good info. Also think Talarico will need to activate Crockett voters if he's going to win.

Only Paxton has the balls to cheat on his wife and then steal taxpayer money to cover it up! That closeted gay vegan Talarico isn't manly enough to pull **** like that! Who do you want representing you, a soft scrub who respects the rule of law while showing compassion for his fellow man, or a man who plays by his own rules and is unafraid to just take what he wants?

We know the maga base will have ZERO issue dealing with the POS Paxton, gotta own the dam libs, even if it means voting for Satan. I actually like Talarico, he reminds me of Mayor Pete with his calm demeanor and above average stage presence who can stay on point. The repugnant gop have already scrubbed their social media of anti-Paxton rhetoric and are ready to back another morally corrupt POS

I see a slim chance to win but it's going to take folks who don't normally vote and hopefully Hispanics after they see what maga is really about and if you aint White you aint right.

Get Jasmine in, hell get everyone in, Obama we need more of you sir. Talarico did great on Joe Rogan, he will need more of that and good GOD I hate these podcasters but it's where Gen Z lives. I would like to see Talarico pounce on kitchen table issues and let the PACS put out the negative ads.................get as many debates as you can with Paxton and hammer him on policy and prices

Paxton will put out the sickest lies and the maga base has now pivoted to Talarico right on cue with their dumb ass lies

I'll be putting my intuition aside (which said, No, Talarico, like Beto, will not break through).

Instead, unlike Beto, as I said previously, Talarico leads against Paxton in the polls (1.5pt on avg). In fact, Paxton has never led against Talarico in any poll this year, while Talarico led Paxton outside the margin of error in a few polls. Beto never led Cruz in any poll. Of course, it's still early and polls can shift.

These guys. I just can't. By October, I am confident their message will include images of early 1800's Charleston waterfront auction houses, talking about restoring the great American economy

Blacks simply do not vote for gay men. Clear evidence.
