Jabari was good in the playoffs last year too. He unfortunately didn't get enough minutes though since he was coming off the bench after he returned from the broken hand.
He’d be perfect if 1. He didn’t dribble or try to play make and 2. Ime wouldn’t ask him to play perimeter defense. He’s a play finisher and He’s a really good shot blocker from the weakside.
I mean he gets zero plays ran for him and has been the 4th - 5th option since he’s been here…. I think his growth would be different and closer to his summer league production if he had been given the chance Until this year we literally asked him to just stand at the 3pt line and guard 1-5
didn't watch the game I'm curious why didn't he make any more shots in the last 10 minutes of the game?
Last night was the first playoff game I watched this season and loved the leadership Jabari was displaying.
When we don't play KD, Jabari doesn't have to play perimeter defense as a starter. (He is okay switching to perimeter.) Tari and Okogie are much better in that role and let Jabari guard the 4 spot.
Jabari starting to cement his status as an elite 2-way role player. Honestly that is a fantastic outcome given his athletic limitations. I’m very satisfied with having him locked up for 5 yrs at $24 mil per. He’s had two yrs of good playoff performances. He’s a valuable asset. For all my issues with Stone, this is a good contract in a world where the cap continues to escalate.
They were running a lot of the offense through Alpi and Amen and they struggled a bit. Although Sengun was blatantly fouled on that dunk attempt. Amen though really didn't have it going last night on offense. The dude has gotta be exhausted with all the minutes he's playing.
Jabari is playing well, but he won't become elite until he punishes a smaller guy when he gets the switch...during game 5, he got AR-15 on the switch and what did Jabari do: shoot a fadeway...smh, he should drive him into the basket every time!!! Udoka should've yelled at him and bench him for that ret@rd shot
Because like always... we slow game down and start going through Alpi and Ime loves putting Bari on the same side of Alpi who rarely kicks it out to him... also Amen started taking horrible midrange jumpers...our offense got horrific - just happy we held on
He will drive but only if Amen and Alpi arnt under the rim....which is rarely the case....hes been finishing really well driving this year...wish he did more of it.... or add a pump fake 1 dribble and then pull up
I'll never understand for the life of me why he gets a pass from the fan base even though he's making 25 million a year. He's completely stalled out for the past few seasons. He needs to add some weight this offseason and develop a interior game
I think it’s Inception. Leonardo DiCaprio went into their dreams 5 years ago and implanted the thought that Jabari is a starter on a championship team deeply into their subconscious.
He's already playing well enough to justify that salary. The league has changed, tall starting-caliber two-way roleplayers get paid now. I'd argue he also did show some moderate improvement this season in taking on a larger role and maintaining his efficiency numbers. I think the disappointment people have with him is based on their expectations exceeding the reality of the player he actually is. Nobody would be unhappy with him if he'd been picked later on in the first round, but since he got picked #3 people expected more of him. That's not really his fault, and it doesn't mean he's slacking off. It's a tough league. Hopefully moving forward he can improve in some of the areas you suggested, as well as increasing his 3P%.
One does wonder if he might be the late bloomer with more potential, just because the shooting floor is so much higher to begin with. Literally the only positive I can take from the KD trade is that Bari got to see what a skinny ass shooting b**** needs to do to be a star. He can't do it, but maybe he can replicate some of it instead of just working on body sleeve tatt ever summer.
With his size it's imperative he develops an interior game. He can't rely on outside shooting as he becomes too streaky and inconsistent aka game 6. He needs a new fitness coach and 15-20 lbs
