Chet, SGA, and JDub are signed through 2030. They have several up and coming young players and a horde of draft picks. A core of those 3 and all the flexibility of draft picks will keep them championship competitors for the next 5 years, if none of their keys get injured.

Whatever year Tilman finally realizes putting a lawyer and his son in charge of a $5 billion nba franchise was a mistake.

stone abandoned the rebuild when he traded out of back to back drafts and traded for Dickerson. That should be clear. He even said he we are set with our young core. Come on DD.

I think at one point they had hope that the rebuild was over, party because they bought the BS Ime was selling them as the con man was securing his bag, but it became pretty obvious last season that the rebuild continues.

Rockets have wasted so many 1st round picks for years. Need clean up house and fire general manager to pick real talented players.

KD is old even if you keep him, He's done in a year. Which is why this was always stupid. We will have to start over in a year if Amen or Jabari dont play up to their drafted level.

Retool, rebuilds are practically gone since they are removing the incentive to full out tank

the decision to draft Green and Sengun was a mistake but the glaring one and more unacceptable is the Sheppard pick.

Barnes, Thompson, Castle, Smith would perhaps have been the most for middle defensive 4 in league history.

Sengun is the only one who has played better than his drafted position. Everyone else including Amen still havent panned out to be superstars despite being top 3 picks. That is the Rockets main problem. Green, Shep, Amen, and Smith all top 3 picks who play like role players.

We'll try to maximize the KD window by gambling on 1 or 2 additional aging vets... once the injuries mount or guys retire, we will go into rebuild...

KD has a player option in 2027-28... so thats prob the deciding factor... if he declines (and prob retires) we will go into rebuild... or if he opts in, it will be for one last run and we rebuild thereafter...

    i'm gonna say 2029...

and for those that want us to stockpile assets and wait for OKC and SAS windows to close... thats just ridiculous imo....
    A) Who knows if they will be able to keep things intact
    B) Who knows who could rise in coming years and just be the next obstacle... like people that wanted to do this bc GSW was so unbeatable - as they wane, others come up... theres always going to be somebody... its more about if injuries take out opponents...
    C) Tilly is gonna want the revenue for ticket sales, so he's going to try to keep a house of cards assembled for as long as he can... he has already ate 1 rebuild, i doubt he's eager to do it again...

We wont have a choice. The joke is you thinking we have a choice. Retooling with KD would be more dumb than the dumb of even getting KD. Thinking you could build around him eventhough the past 6 - 7 years no team has been able to do that is dumb. And hes only getting older. Our only play here is trading the old guys and hoping we get better through the draft. Anything other than that would be dumb but thats what we are gonna do because our Organization is dumb now since Les left.

No... we have a choice... or rather the org has the choice...

U, in your infinite wisdom, may not think one of the options is the correct route... but there is a choice...

and what is your choice? Go back into tank mode and fritter away a few more years hoping to get lucky on a crapshoot and draft a superstar with even worse odds than previously, given the new draft structure...?

I never said tank. I said trade the old guys for assets and bet on the draft. Im not shocked you dont understand the difference. Im very wise Im one of the only guys here who warned the entire board about KD while I was being called a hater over a year ago. I said KPJ wouldt work as well. Im usually right and you are usually wrong so I wouldnt be so cocky if I were you.

I think the Spurs window is a bit shorter than OKC's mainly because of Wemby's medical issues in the past and his size - it's very rare that a dude that big has a long career. Leg and feet injuries tend to shorten their careers. Enjoy watching that unicorn while you can .... or not.

As for OKC, it really boils down to two things - hitting on some role players with draft picks and their main cogs staying healthy. They could be here a while.

I see OKC going on a Celtics 1960’s style run. It’s all mapped out so perfectly. They can just keep their top three players and then just keep reloading the supporting cast with all their first round picks. They could stretch this out for a very long time.

The Rockets are in the same boat with the rest of the league. Maybe a few teams can challenge OKC each year, but OKC will probably be the favorite for years to come. The Spurs with Wemby can make some noise, but OkC just looks too strong.
