This board: "Amen's handles are weak! His 2.2 assist-to-turnover ratio is not good enough!" Also this board: "It's okay that Castle has averaged 10 TOs - he's also averaged 9.5 assists!"
That's just the spurs fans.... and let's face it, they aren't the brightest so of course they say stupid ****.
Castle would be HORRIBLE in Houston and Reed would be amazing playing off Wemby. So many people need to watch more basketball before they post. DD
People who think they are seeing something radically different than that the stats objectively say is happening shouldn't bother watching basketball because they are clueless.
If 10 TOs a game the playoffs is such a big deal Why not a single peep about KDs 9 TOs in the playoffs? BTW im not a castle fan but but those TOs not gonna bury him
Boy that is truth....try explaining chemistry to a stats guy/gal. And no one has been able to prove that stats aren't made up garbage, because there are still human hands in every stat, weighting the algorithms etc. DD
I think the 9 was outrageous, just tired of screaming about it all ****ING YEAR and Ime being so ****ING STUPID as to try the same thing as he failed over and over again. At some point, you just throw up your hands.... DD
Taking a step back from the Castle versus Reed discussion--if it turns out to have been a huge miss, I will consider it another knock on our front office, but one way or another we're stuck with the decision. Moving forward, even if Reed is just a perennial 6MOY contender and nothing more, that's still a nice player. Minny is paying Naz Reid an average annual value of $25M to play that role for them. His overall value to us will depend on what kind of extension Reed gets offered and how he progresses as a player. I also wouldn't hesitate to trade him if we're getting premium value back; but I'd want it to be a young player of equal or greater upside or a proven 20-something player who is at least a fringe all-star (i.e. Trey Murphy). In any case, I think he has real value as either a player or a trade asset. Don't read too much into one playoff series.
And he was really carried by Wemby going off in game 1 or it would have been much more negative. Castle is the Spurs biggest weakness.
Depends on the stats. Pro Castle people will say "he's averaging 9 assists and 18 points the stats say he's good". Anti Castle people will say "he's averaging 10 turnovers a game and he's a -12 for the series, the stats say he's bad". Castle is what he is. A terrible shooter that looks better than he does because he's playing next to a human eraser dunk machine. If he was on the Rockets his issues would be a lot more pronounced and people would be asking for Stone to be fired because he chose to go with another 0 and D turnover machine over a potentially generational shooter/floor general. Steph Castle can't hold Amen Thompson's jock strap and you have idiots in here saying he's better lol. If Amen was on the Spurs there would be no point in playing the games they would win the next 5 titles barring Wemby's health.
I think you are describing Castle fan cope using cherry picked stats vs reality. When I'm saying stats, I don't mean cherry picked stats, I mean the overall picture including everything... and if the eye test people are fairly close to agreement, that means they have good eyes and know what they are watching. When I have a problem it's more like when an eye test person tells me one player was in the whole game and the actual numbers say they played 3 minutes in 4 quarters of basketball.
