There is no team that can be made to beat the spurs unless another big 3 is form like miami.. you need Ant, Cade and flagg to even have a chance

    Nor is OKC small.

Nor is a backcourt of Fox/Harper/Castle above average.

Such a weird take from OP.

Yeah, we were starting three dudes listed at 6'11".

We were objectively a very tall/long team, and that shows in the numbers--we were #1 in rebounding and #2 in shotblocking.

OP has this incredible long-running obsession with getting one guy who fits his ideal vision of what a center should be and repeatedly comes back to it over and over again.

The last thing the Rockets should do this offseason is put all of their energy and attention into improving in rebounding and rim protection. We need shooters, ballhandlers, playmakers. If anything, we should explore getting some kind of stretch 5 even if it's just a bench player who isn't a great defensive center.

Point still stands start with cade, ant and Flagg and then fill it out with good role players and you will be able to compete with the spurs. But we will never see another big 3 era team in their prime.

hasn't been a repeat champion in a very long time.

I don't think i'm as down as everyone else.

the rockets just don't have the right front office to get the rockets a puncher's chance.

no around the margins moves. too much attachment to particular players who are FLAWED in one way or another (FVV, Reed, Jalen, KPJ). too much half measures. Why trade for KD and then hard cap the team making flexibility off the table?

stone clearly has an EGO problem. I believe that he didn't want Alperen to succeed early because it was a Witus pick. So much so he was mandating minutes for ****ing bruno fernando.

Not yet they aren't, he's a weak link that could cause them to fail

I don't think so! Just last yr, we thought OKC was unbeatable. Its about combating preying on ther weak spots, which I think is getting up and down the court fast and being able to draw Wemby out of the paint, which is why I think the Rockets need a 3PT SHOOTING CENTER and a center who can DEFEND THE RIM..... To me thats Ware

AND you need a guard who can see over the top of their guards, who can playmake and get to the rim.

OKC played small most of the game. Hartenstein played 12 minutes. Daigneault sat him down because playing a non shooter allows Wemby to camp around the rim, then you're drawing dead.

Meanwhile San Antonio played a lineup with Wemby + four guards for the vast majority of the game.

The real takeaway for me (other than Wemby) from that game isn't size, it's the combo of guys on OKC and SAS who play unbelievably hard and fast while also processing the game correctly and have a skill baseline.

I don't think old KD, Sengun, or Reed could really play in that game because I don't think they could keep up. With Harper/Castle/Vassell/(Fox) and Shai/JDub/Ajay/Caruso/Wallace on the floor the game at the absolute highest level has passed them by.

You ALMOST had it! OKC's coach went small and it did draw Wemby away from the basket, however when S.A went zone, OKC failed to hit their 3pt shots and thats what S.A wants.....Is for the other team to go small, Wemby on the court against smaller players.

The only way to combat that is bigs that can hit 3pt shots. With Ware, Jabari and KD, I feel very confident that lineup could work against S.A.

Going small forced OKC to live and die by the 3pt shot. You have to be able to get some Mid range shots or shots at the basket in order to beat S.A.

Sengun for the Giannis package is interesting.

    Sengun/DFS/Capela

    for Herro/Ware/ Jaquez/ Kasparas / 2 FRP (including 2026 #13)

get rid of bad contracts, get another all star caliber player, get depth and players that fit better with Amen.

Thinking Jabari Smith Jr can play in that game is the most insanely wrong opinion every one seems to share.

Who are the spurs or thunder he can run with, guard, or dribble around.. every closer has a well established history of being too fast and skilled for him to compete with.

Yeah, all these kids we've taken in recent drafts are deeply flawed in one way or another - kinda strange to say it but Jalen was the least flawed of the bunch - he had all the tools but couldn't find the consistency, when he was on he was fantastic.
The rest of them don't have all the tools, Sengun is small for a center, unathletic and shoots poorly, Amen is an all world athlete that can't shoot from anywhere, Reed is too small & can't stay in front of a traffic cone, Jabari can't dribble And Tari is one handed, erratic and low IQ.

There needs to be a new approach in scouting - Draft guys who check all the boxes - athletic / size for the position, shoot, pass, dribble. No more one dimensional or undersized players who have some major deficiency skill deficiency or size limitation.

This ain't no fairy tale, frogs have warts, they don't turn into princes ....
