I promise you that if Reed was on the Spurs and Castle was on the Rockets, we'd be saying the same thing in reverse.

The Rockets have done a piss poor job of developing their prospects. The Spurs have not.

Yes he did especially when he already wanted to trade Green in 2024.

yep he’s getting better and trending up to be a complete player. Has a pullup mid range as well.

that X post is deceptive and improperly associated Rockets draft picks directly contributing to Spurs current roster construction, which resulted from 2 trades (Barnes, Fox), 2 legacy Pop players (vassel, johnson), 2 free agents/waiver claims (champagne, kornet) and 2 picks that were inconsequential to Rockets (VW, harper). The only pick that contributed to Spurs success is the Sheppard pick.

You are upset with someone for something out of their control? He didn’t ask to get drafted by the Rockets or effectively benched for his first year. SA is a top tier org and we are mid and they develop their players better. They have arguably better coaching. Castle’s usage rate is much higher than Reed’s.

Don’t be silly. It’s fair to be frustrated and unhappy that SA got what you think is a better player, but it’s not Sheppard’s fault.

Sheppard had so many open looks against the Lakers and clanked them all, and he was getting bullied on defense all series

Did we even give Castle a workout during the pre-draft process? Because I don’t understand how you fck up like this

It’s funny watching people blow their load over the spurs beating teams they were supposed to beat. They were the 2nd seed with a guy that is probably going to be in the top 5 all time convo in a couple of years

I guess we should have propped up role players like Kerr as well when they played with MJ. Or Mario Ellie, Kenny Smith with Hakeem

don’t get it twisted, is weird hair dew the better player? Absolutely.

is he the guy everyone simps over? Probably not

it's been well documented that Reed plays much better with Steven on the court as opposed to Sengun. I'm certain Reed would look better on the Spurs whereas on the Rockets Castle would just be one more rugby player in Ime's scrum.

Don’t tell the spurs simps this. Props to the spurs for constantly finding dudes like Tony, Manu, Kawhi and even patty mills etc and constantly putting them in positions to succeed

I’m going to blow everyone’s mind here.

the spurs don’t consistently find raw dudes that every other front office and individual completely misses. The look for qualifying traits and develop tf out of them. That’s why Presti, whose off of the tree accomplishes the same goals

Castle is actually knocking down shots. They've tried to expose him (forcing him to shoot), but he delivered, 44% from deep in these playoffs, 11 games so far (not a small sample size). Respect to him, Sheppard got scared. We always get these weak, choke artists. What can you do

it is when he misses wide open three pointers and was terrible in the playoffs when he simply did not seize the moment

I was hard on Reed in the Laker series. He played bad, but let’s be honest, we don’t have anything close to a Wemby out there to create those wide open looks that Castle get.

Teams are intentionally leaving Castle open, to his credit, he’s making them pay. Teams know better than to leave Reed wide open, they don’t do it for a reason.

Defensive wise….he’ll never be be Castle, size and strength wise it just can’t happen….it is what it is. Teams will forever pick on him on that end of the floor until he gets better or the rockets provide him a Wemby at the rim to protect.

No the Rockets likely did not have a pre draft workout with Castle. Castle wanted to play point and reportedly didn’t workout with teams that had a point. This doesn’t mean he wasn’t willing to be drafted or play for the Rockets. Jabari didn’t give the Rockets a workout either.

But there may have been other things behind the scenes we don’t know about. Maybe his team told Stone they would request a trade if drafted. It’s unlikely but that was a possibility. There’s no reporting of this though.

He also didn’t start as CP3 started in 24-25 for Spurs and they traded for another pg in fox that year. If Castle was so adamant on playing point and didn’t want to play in a crowded back court then this conflicts with that reporting and logic.

I think the Rockets saw Amen as a point/combo guard and they already wanted to move green even before the 24 draft according to reports. They were also likely scared of a future back court with castle and Amen that can’t shoot. But the talent was too good to ignore. They at least could have played him with fred still as a combo or as a backup coming in with holliday or jalen at the time. 100% biggest mistake of the Stone era
