That's really short sighted. He looks good right now because of the team he's on...if the Rockets had drafted Castle, EVERYONE would be calling him a bust right now because adding a poor man's Amen to a team that can't shoot would be tragic....and would be talking about how the Rockets blew it by not picking Sheppard who would be absolutely killing it with the Spurs.

My rule is always wait three years before starting to truly pass judgment on FRPs, and I still think Castle would have been a bad fit and wouldn't have developed as well with us as he has in San Antonio. But he might just be the better player by a big enough margin for it not to matter. Going to give it one more season though, you never know.

Reed Sheppard isn’t getting minutes on the Spurs…

the delusion and sad attempts at cope have to stop at some point

Castle is significantly better in almost every facet, and with the way things are going, he’s a more trustworthy shooter in the playoffs too

Castle is killing the Wolves. The thing is he looks like a basketball player. His strength as a small guard jumps off the screen. Reed Sheppard does not jump off the screen

The spurs already had a plan for drafting Sheppard and generally their plans are bullet proof. And inside out game with Reed and Wemby ona team that actually runs plays and develops players is scary

Castle is the better player no question, right now and probably long term. But it’s not a valid comparison. Sheppard took a huge leap this year, particularly in the regular season. No minutes —> 15ppg

whatever th rockets threw out in the postseason is not reason to judge anybody on the team except Udoka and stone. If Reed between year 2 and 3 as he did between 1 and 2 that’s pretty damn hood

    Overall? Absolutely.

    upload_2026-5-15_21-32-52.png

Sheppard was better pretty much across the board despite Ime's sabotage and the advantages Castle got with the extra year worth of opportunity and the better coaching, and the Wemby factor.

Swap the two at the draft, and even the casuals would see it because the Spurs would be better and the Rockets would be a lot worse.

If you still think that Reed was the better pick over Castle then just an embarrassment to this board. Or just a blatant racist.

There’s a lot of racism directed at Sheppard is what I’ve noticed tbh. It was extremely disappointing to watch this year

I think he needs one more year of consistent minutes before we really start calling each other racist or making a final judgment.

Do you not see him off the dribble orchestrating and knocking down threes? He is better at the things that we were told Reed would excel at. Huge miss, franchise altering probably

Sheppard should first prove he's as good as Julian Champagnie. He no longer needs to be compared with Castle.

I think Reed still has all-star potential and people are being far too harsh on a guy who basically played his first serious minutes this year and turned up, despite the poor playoff performance, the guy was a legit contender as 6th man of the year and made our team better when he was on the floor. Period. You can look at the lineups, there's a reason Ime had to keep going back to him as starter.

If Reed gets his floater/mid shot down, he's going to find scoring a lot easier.

What's funny to me is this...

Look at this poll. 94% of you were saying you liked the selection, so unless you one of those 36 votes, you don't get to turn around and go "Stone was a dummy! How could he pick Reed?!" when 94% of you were banging the table for the same guy.

Sit down and chill out, give the guy a chance to grow and LEARN from his failures, since that's how players get better, they learn from their failures and they come back better next year, hopefully they do get better, work on their game, get more consistent, etc etc

Good. At least the convo of Sheppard and a name that is Castle should be settled after these Playoffs.

I dont think reed was a bad pick, I just think he sucks as a third pick.

Man is not ready to run an nba offense (ime sucks), his defense is bad and he cant shoot 3s in playoffs.

Only upside is he still young and has potential. If he was a franchise type player we wouldn't b planning to run it back with fvv as our starting pg.

when the Rockets are so desperate for young talent, you can’t be fumbling top 3 picks by taking Reed Sheppard over Castle

    you just can’t

    fireable offense by Stone

What's really a fire able offense is watching the offense all season long and not recognizing something major has to change with it or you're gonna get cooked in the playoffs. THEN, watching the offense in the playoffs and not firing Udoka immediately afterward. Both need their butts handed to them on the botch job they pulled this season. Lastly, who the hell allows the coach to play a 37 year old as much as he made him play Durant. Should have told him MAX 30 min per game. That's just insane.
