pretty sure the main reason blockhead Stone gave BK their pick back and went with the PHX picks instead is because he was gearing up for a Devin Booker trade

just for Booker to not be made available so he settled for ancient KD and gave him a 2 year extension to top it off

and Booker is overrated and not that guy to begin with, but if he was available, Stone would’ve given up the farm

and all this “BK wouldn’t have been bad if they didn’t have their pick and would’ve signed all these good free agents to compete” is nothing more than a sad attempt at cope

I don't think the Rockets plan on using the picks they have to draft a player. They will go 'star-hunting' this offseason.

This kind of thing, moreso than the actual results, is what make me think Stone is not a good GM. We've had too many incidents/reports that indicate lucky breaks or other teams not playing ball saved him from himself. It's only a matter of time before he makes a truly catastrophic trade or signing. Maybe trading away the Brooklyn pick was already that, but I guess we can't fully judge it yet few a few more years.

if Stone had held firm and forced them to take back their pick for next year, instead of giving them the 10th pick last year... we could be sitting on Khaman Maluach! ;) lol

People always have this fascination with draft picks like its some magic box that was going to fulfil all our needs and desires... when most likely it would just be another scrub who would take up a roster spot for a few years and have no impact on the team...

i think the kids call it FOMO....

    lol

It’s just not our draft year.

We are not a developmental team anymore.

Real reason they don’t have a pick is they are just now finally paying off the Westbrook debt.
*Which I believe they traded to Philly for McCain.

Don't worry everyone is going to wait till the season starts and look at the top picks, disregard the busts, and say we could of had one of these 2 future stars!

They will also disregard the rockets are a perfect example of how easy it is for a bad team (22 wins, 2023) to improve (41 wins, 2024) just by the organization shifting away from tanking when they don't have their own picks anymore (signing vets, defensive minded coach)

No one is going to think about us getting the mediocre ~#11 pick we would have actually gotten from the nets.

It makes people feel a lot better that there's something small that could have been done in recent history to save this team.

for me, it’s about continuing to take swings in the draft to find a franchise player…or at least another young core piece. I think that’s a pretty reasonable posture. And I think it’s terrible for a team without a franchise guy, or a rebuilding team, to sit out back to back drafts. I dont think that’s defensible.

Great job Stone giving away the first pick in this draft. Can’t believe they are keeping the lawyer.

Nobody mentions it on this site, but in addition to Green, Brooks, 10th pick….Stone also gave up 5 (FIVE!!!) second round picks in that awful awful deal for a 37 year old who played one playoff game for us which we lost.

Sure, if it was up to me we would tear it all down, hord picks, and stay young until we found a young superstar. But, this specific trade actually yielded more "swings" and when you consider the nature of teams when they don't own their picks you realize the pick we gave up is not the same pick the Nets will use this summer.

When you just have a really good patient, stable, long game type of management style from ownership, you casually end your pick debt this year from a Westbrook trade 7 years ago

    It's just how it works

Giannis and Kawhi are the 2 names to watch this Offseason barring trades star players for 2026/27 Draft picks....

I am just not that interested in Spida Mitchell or Embiid.

Under Stone we never seem to have a good pick in stacked draft years. Whether that's luck or mismanagement, it's still on the GM's head.

It's been 24 years since the Rockets had the number one pick.
