Me either. Its been around forever. It's just luck of the draw if you are around the droppings of those infected rodents and breathe that virus in. Honestly, I'm surprised it doesn't happen on cruise ships more often, as much as they dock and sit in ports. I doubt they are mice free. LOL
Years ago, when I was stationed on San Clemente Island, they brought out men to fly around in helicopters to kill all the cats, to save an indigenous species of bird. They were there a few weeks. On my flight home one week we were sitting on the plane waiting to leave and a civilian walked onboard and I said to my friend, "Is that one of the cat killers?" Embarrassingly enough some man sitting in front of me turned around and said something to confirm it, because he was one too. LOL, talk about putting my foot in my mouth. Anyway, after all the cats were gone we got a mice infestation around all the island. I guess they didn't think about that part. They then began putting sticky traps everywhere around the buildings. It was so gross seeing mice in the traps every day. I guess they were testing some of them for the Hantavirus. Anyway, one weekend one of my coworkers was off the island and became seriously ill, vomiting and all the nasty stuff. She was terrified she got Hantavirus and they ended up doing a spinal tap on her. I don't even remember what they determined, but she ended up fine later. It makes me think how scary it would be waiting around on that ship, wondering if you got exposed, since the incubation period can be weeks. That would be stressful man, just wondering if you are going to become violently ill any day.
Hantavirus is much nicer than the original name of the disease it causes - Korean Hemoragic Fever. Maybe because I grew up during the heyday of the popularity of The Hot Zone, where Ebola was first thrust into public consiousness in the 1990's, but anything that causes a fever described as hemoragic scares the piss out of me. I don't want to die bleeding out from my eyeballs, thank you very much. Ebola, Crimean-Congo Hemoragic Fever, Marburg... you can keep them all along with the Korean Hemoragic version. I just learned hanta in hantavirus is derived from the name of the Hantan River near the Korean border where the virus was first isolated in the 1980s.
LOL, imagine all the money spent to hire civilian pilots and guys with guns to shoot cats for weeks. Then, the thousands of sticky traps to kill the mice.
Hopefully none of them are hitting the bars every night for one night stands. Seriously though, it's not going to spread like Ebola or COVID. I'm not worried.
You wake up and iterate one word. It dominates your thoughts and your life Isn’t is stressful planning your existence around “LiBz”
That is a direct quote from an epidemiologist. Again, you are showing that your hate for "liberals" is so strong it overrides basic reading comprehension, including something as simple as recognizing a clearly attributed quote.
Inspiring words. REPORTER: Have you been briefed on the hantavirus? TRUMP: Yes I have. REPORTER: What have you learned? TRUMP: Ahhh — it’s very much we hope under control. REPORTER: Should Americans be concerned it’s going to spread? TRUMP: I hope not. We’ll do the best we can.
Incorrect. You were at the forefront at the beginning of the C19 epidemic propegating false information from the 'experts'. Do you not remember how masks were useless and we should only save them for doctors? And how we should bleach everything because it was the most contagious way to get Covid? Or how we closed the beaches because it was contaminated with Covid? You literally propegated all this BS acting like you were a subject matter expert then crawfished by blaming the 'real' experts and also claiming it was the best information available. You never questioned it and ridiculed anyone who did. You supported heavily censoring social media for fair news.
The SARS Covid 19 virus was a new virus and Doctors were learning about it in real time. It's obvious that information would be adjusted as they discovered more about it. This is an entirely different situation. We've already seen a Hantavirus Andes outbreak 8 years ago in Argentina. Epidemiologists already know what to expect from it, including its much much lower transmission rate.
and now you're for censorship, prosecution and your vision of a police state if it "owns the libs" pathetic!
