what words have they said that jeopardizes this franchise? Im baffled. They simply said they will look at the roster and they expect players to grow. I don’t get the criticism and constantly not putting any accountability on players. Why is it ok for Popovich to yell at players or criticize players but not Udoka? The coach that just beat us has been tough on his team all year saying he doesn’t know what to do with the team’s poor play. Chris Finch directly criticized Edwards last year. What coach doesn’t put the onus on players and are tough on them while emphasizing accountability?
Why was the KD trade suspect? We needed a shooter/scorer/closer and he even agreed to sign a lesser 2 year extension. We sure as hell didn't plan to have a bunch of bad injury luck that goes beyond just signing older vets. After everything we saw this season, it's surprising folks still have such a negative opinion about FVV. Even though coaching sucked, Amen still had the off season to improve his shooting and playmaking and he just didn't really do it a meaningful way. It should be objectively obvious FVV is a competent PG who plays an outsized role of getting everyone on time and in the right positions both on offense and defense (we miss that with Dillon Brooks). It's just flat out dumb say that FVV sucks.
Fans certainly have a right to criticize players, coaches, owners. They are the customers. Voters have a right to criticize a president even if they haven’t risen to that level of the position in society. In the corporate world, people rise above their capabilities quite often. The truth of the matter is that fans see the product on the court and have the ability to rate that product against the product being produced by other coaches and make intelligent critiques. I think fans blaming Ime for Jabari’s foul-up in game 3 are being silly, but they can also be correct in blaming Ime for rotation errors and having KD play pg in the 4th quarter so many times during the regular season. In my opinion, we have both roster issues and coaching issues. I’m not infallible and, maybe, I am wrong about Ime being a narcissist and a poor offensive coach. I may be wrong about Amen being a pg as well or that I believe he will develop a shot, but not being an NBA coach certainly doesn’t disqualify me from having faith in my opinions or being able to voice them on a fan site that is built mainly for debate. I wouldn’t presume that I have better BBIQ than an NBA coach, but I do presume that as someone who has managed employees to great success for 40 years that I feel very comfortable in my opinion that throwing employees under the bus or never taking responsibility for failures is a fatal flaw when building a team.
They probably think being a point just means dribbling the ball up. There’s so much responsibility to being a point even on defense getting guys in right positions. They signed him to reset the culture and the deal was team friendly with a 3rd year team option which was renegotiated for less.
Popovich called out his players. Nurse just did last week. JJ has been on his team all year. Finch and spoelstra has called out players individually. All of these coaches have been successful in the league. Udoka called out our players after that terrible game 3 loss and forced them to watch that film immediately after the game yet people here criticize that as wrong or that he’s incompetent and put all the blame on him. That isn’t fair. People have all the right to do whatever they want but it doesn’t mean they’re right. Criticism is one thing but simply berating, hating, and insulting someone without any analysis and facts to back up those accusations is wrong. Any criticism without knowledge or facts is wrong and lacks credibility. Everyone should know what they’re speaking about if they choose to heavily criticize someone
You list very self-accountable coaches in Reddick/ finch and very inspirational player coach with a track record of championships in popovich. I personally wanted a better explanation than the same old "we need growth from our young core." As to why we lost to a team without it's two top scorers, despite achieving a better record than them in regular season. Udoka is known around here for never taking any responsibility and I think that is not the type of environment that's conductive to players growth because no one likes a know-it-all that hasn't won much. I'd not complain about it if we have a reputation for player development, but we do not
Nothing will change next season. Still that shiit coach and shiit GM. Maybe I should stay away Rockets next season.
I like the trade but its the wrong players! I think it needs to be; Sengun and Reed For Herro, Ware and Mitchell
He certainly didn't suck his first season with us, I actually think he was very good. But his production did significantly decline last season. I wouldn't quite say he sucked, but I think he was at best an average starting point guard, and maybe not even that. And now he'll be coming off a year-plus without playing basketball and a major surgery. It is possible he will bounce back and match or exceed his 2024-2025 production, but I'm certainly not optimistic. I just don't think it's that big of a lift to find somebody else who can do what FVV does, but the front office talks like he's still his peak Toronto Raptors self. He's just not, and the odds that he ever will be again are exceedingly slim.
Wrong reply. Replied not realising your post was responding to the clown of Clutchfans who I've got ignored for obvious reasons.
Did his production decline because he was overtasked creating too much offense? He's not a guard who thrives with on the dribble, late 3 point shots. The absence of FVV's competency was pretty glaring. There are certainly other guards who can both run point and defend at a high level, but they usually aren't available. We also had a peek of the combination of Reed, Amen, and Sengun did at playmaking and it wasn't pretty. The coaching was pretty bad but that doesn't explain all of it away. We can still take a chance on Ayo with a SNT if the Wolves can't agree to terms with Ayo, as example. Would FVV agree to play on Twolves with ANT? Pretty decent chance especially if there was an extension involved. At the very least, it's time to get mix up the end of bench playmaking.
when has popovich taken public accountability? Does JJ apologize or explain every single thing that went wrong? Name one coach that explains thoroughly what went wrong? Udoka already talked about what went wrong this entire season. The truth is he can’t say we can’t win with 2 non shooters as part of our big 3. You want the truth? But that would be throwing players under the bus. Also That wasn’t what I addressed. I asked why is it ok for other coaches to be overly harsh and critical but not Udoka? This is a double standard. Also a reminder that just because someone does not say it’s on them in public does not mean they don’t say it to themselves or behind closed doors. He also uses the word we a lot expressing unity. Again let’s stop the unfair criticism when you yourself don’t want to be in that position. Or do you?
is ayo a pick and roll player? I haven’t really watched him. He’s not a true point. A combo guard type and a natural small 2 guard like Maxey. Is he even starting material?
Who cares if you ignored me. The fact that you bring me up means I’m still in your mind and that you’re my bi +ch
People keep talking like they know and they dont. The honest truth is you never know what youre gonan get from the draft.
Agreed, it is possible that we could get a franchise player (or a bust) from next year's draft, but the odds are against it. I'm just maintaining a realistic view - one which still positions us well for the future.
“We all have to do this together. On me to get them into those sets and on them to run them and do the things we worked on,” Udoka said. https://www.si.com/nba/rockets/onsi...nding-in-first-round-and-look-ahead-to-future
A lot of our guys not playing up to their potential is due to them not being utilized properly. For Reed, along side the right personnel (e.g. Fred) is one. In a system where advantages are actively created for him is another. He has got neither. He has his very low point but I think being a level-headed fan one needs to see the positive side of things. Also, imagine shoveling first year Sengun / Green into playoff inferno lol.
why do rockets fans want sorry ass herro so much? Do you all know what heat fans think of him? One man’s trash is another’s… i guess
