Can see him legitimately get pissed after LeBron intentionally bumped him. Kid showed some grit. Also, **** Lebron.
Career 53% TS in the playoffs. Granted, that's basically what the Rockets are doing this postseason. Didn't see this last game, but Paolo like Jalen Green has some great games, except with a little more frequency. I do worry about Reed not being too efficient as he just doesn't get to the foul line which puts a lot of pressure to get good looks from 3.
Reed is a perfect representation of all young Rockets prospects (at least those that weren't just dead on arrival like Garuba, TyTy, etc.) in that you don't know the answer if he's a long term cornerstone of the franchise. This is what happens when the coach can't develop young players. And no, I'm not talking about just getting on their asses to play defense. But rather develop player skills, expand their game, make them better team players, etc. The Rockets youngsters are getting none of that. This is why Ime has to go and a more offense/developmental thinking coach in here.
There are some real weird posts in this thread starting with OP. Reed is literally the reason we won the game last night. He single-handily stopped that Lakers run. Also, I get where we've all been mentally and emotionally as Rockets fans. But after winning two straight games in the playoffs with the second youngest playoff starting lineup in NBA history, can we take a break on talking about who should be traded and just enjoy these kids putting up some truly gritty performances?
Sengun is the leader of this team. Of course you would. Sengun is the leader of this team. Even when having a bad game he grits it out. Rockets are starting to look like the same gritty team without KD
Reed isn’t a shade if what Amen is. Some players can just flash and get all the love. Reed had a good game last night, but Amen is there every night. Reed never has been.
I don't think there's as strong of pressure to trade one of Amen, Reed, or Sengun this offseason as people think. We need to get out of this mindset that "oh, we traded for KD, we're trying to win now". I wouldn't make any panic trades. Yes, any of the three should be available for the right price, and what that price would be obviously depends on which of them you're talking about. But you don't trade them out of desperation to fix roster construction issues on a team that's clearly still rebuilding. I would make Reed available, sure, but only for a premium return. A two-way player in his 20s who can be the #2 (or at least come close to that) on a championship team would be my price. So somebody like Trey Murphy. Same goes for Sengun, by the way. I've backed off on the "trade him just to make the roster fit" thing, at least for now. We may get to the point where we have to do that, but there's no rush. If you can get a young player who is his equal as a player but fits better on this team, sure. Otherwise, run it back with him and hope he develops into a stretch big.
Another dumb post. I absolutely love Amen and won't argue that he's there every night. He is. But Reed isn't there every night in large part because Udoka often doesn't allow him to be. He's also a few years younger than Amen and in his first season of real minutes. Last night he stepped up on the biggest stage. Under the bright lights of a nationally televised game, In the Lakers own arena, he stopped an 11-1 run by the Lakers to essentially clench the W. Give the kid his props and move on.
I haven't seen anyone on the Rockets that I am dead set on building around. There isn't a Flagg or Wemby on this roster. Having said that -- I haven't seen anything from Reed that leads me to believe that he cannot be a very good point guard on an elite team. He needs to get better overall and be more consistent, but I have seen improvement in him - and am reasonably optimistic that he can be pretty good.
In a trade scenario, the Mavericks and Jazz would likely overpay! But seriously, trading a player who has as high of a ceiling as anyone on our team would be very dumb. He's on the rise and has been held back by a very bad head coach.
