Mobley is better but he has different flaws that make him terrible. He's very soft for a "generational defensive big" and i don't like his offensive game at all. Do not like lanky centers.
Not really, here's the first 5 seasons for both. Bosh scored a little bit more, but with a lower efficiency. They are very similar actually. Now Chris Bosh isn't a #1 type, and neither is Mobley, but they are both star caliber players.
Bosh was lights out from midrange even as a rookie iirc. Mobley still can't shoot the ball. Bosh was a more versatile scorer and was the n1 option on a 47 win Raptor team as well as its best player. I don't think a team with Mobley as its best player could have a 40 win season.
His shooting numbers were worse than Mobley's...but it was a different time I guess, no one cared about scoring efficiency back then, they just saw scoring totals and clapped. Also, with those Raptors teams.... Season 1 33-49 Season 2 33-49 Season 3 22-57 Season 4 47-35 Season 5 41-41 That's one season over .500 in the first 5 years in a pathetic Eastern Conference that had only 5 total teams over .500....and they got crushed in the first round by a 41-41 team. I know narratives are what they are, but this is another instance where it doesn't align with reality.
Not that it's a good metric for judging a player's worth in the league, but i don't think a team led by Mobley can ever finish a season above .500, regardless of the conference they are in because he is not as skilled as Bosh was. If you have a great team, you would want Mobley as your 5 but if it is a flawed team, Mobley will look average. That's why i said having him over JG wouldn't have made any difference because we've always had a very flawed team. If Bosh had played in this era, he likely would have been more efficient by prioritizing shooting and would have excelled at it. He already shot a very high percentage on long twos during his time in Miami. Can Mobley get there? Never IMO.
Mobley is one of the softest players in the league and will be getting paid an average of 55 mil/yr the next 4 seasons I’d legit rather have Jalen Green and his contract than Evan Mobley and his Mobley is an overrated bum
So in short, you just don't believe it despite what the numbers say. Narrative over reality, something that is very popular here lately.
Not only was he consistently very efficient from midrange for a big but he was also better at driving to the rim. He was a bigger offensive threat than Mobley will ever be. That much is as certain as the fact that water is essential to human life.
Again, not what the numbers say, but I get that you go on vibes instead of reality. There was more volume, but not more quality. In fact, Mobley shot better from midrange this season than Bosh did at any point in his first 10 seasons.
You realize this isn't a coherent response to what was said right? Try reading what you are attempting to respond to again and see if you can comprehend it. For example, if you look at Chris Bosh's 5th season, he shot 41% from midrange as it is defined by NBA.com, Mobley shot 44.9%. You can look to pad Bosh's numbers by talking about what he did late in his career....but as I said, Mobley shot better from midrange THIS season than Chris Bosh did in his first 5 seasons.....so you were going on vibes and narratives rather than basing your opinion in reality. It is what it is.
Why would i want to exclusively compare their 5th year midrange percentages while Bosh actually shot better from 10–16, and 16-3p range than Mobley did when he was 21, 22 and 23 years old? You act like progression is linear when it clearly isn't. If it were, Mobley wouldn't have shot .133 and .188 in the seasons following the year he shot .455 from 16-3pt range.
Did you even attempt to read what you are allegedly responding to? The discussion is about where Mobley is now compared to where Bosh was at the same time. That's why you compare where they were at the same time. It's not really relevant that Mobley shot poorly in his first few years, or that Bosh started shooting well in his final years. We're talking about right now. You're VERY close to triggering my policy on low IQ/pathologically dishonest posters.
I gave you their 21, 22 and 23 yo midrange percentages in my last reply. Yes, 21–23 yo Bosh was a better midrange shooter than 21–23 year-old Mobley. Now what are you going to do with this information? Are you going to keep spazzing out on me, hyperfocusing on their fifth year as if progression is linear, as if Mobley will keep shooting like this year while completely ignoring the last three years just to win the argument like a coward little b****, or are you going to finally be a man in this thread?
What you are responding to is a statement that CURRENT Mobley is better than Bosh was in his first 5 seasons. You are desperately trying to change the subject because you know you have nothing valid to say. It's fine, I get it, you are clearly a dishonest piece of **** and I don't waste my time with low caliber people like you. Carry on.
There is no "current Mobley" you idiot that's the thing you don't get. Mobley is an inconsistent shooter. He shot 37% from the 3pt line last year, while he shot below 30% this year. He's literally shooting %25 in the playoffs. He hasn't figured anything out and you act like he has. You live in the moment and only in the moment.
sengun still has potential, but just not that high, i see him being an all star but only tier 2 ones where he can not lead a team by his own, we need another center to pair with him, Adams is a great backup, we need another center clingan would be ideal who can protect rim and shoot 3s
