Have any of you looked at the three trades the Bills completed on draft night.

The Texans gave up picks 28, 69, and 167 for Bills picks 26 and 91. Using a draft value chart, this was a gross overpay on the Texans part. There was no need to throw in pick 167 by the Texans because without it the Texans were still overpaying in the trade.

The Bills completed two more trades last night.

The Patriots gave up picks 31 and 125 for Bills pick 28. In this trade the Patriots underpaid for the trade using a draft value chart.

Finally the Titans gave up picks 35, 66, and 101 for Bills picks 31, 69, and 165 which was a slight overpay on the Titans.

Which comes to my question. Why are the Texans throwing in extra picks on trades and not seeking fair market value? The Bills literally robbed the Texans last night to move up 2 spots.

Allegedly Titans were trying to trade up for Big Red... also 49ers were allegedly primed to take him.

8 minute windows means less time to negotiate

You were clearly in their (or some other team’s) war room - why didn’t you ask?

WAJ was a WAY WAY WAY over pay. And it was worth it! If you ask any team out there they would do the same to get the captain, the anchor the soul of your defense and he is also a great person. He is getting highest paid and that's saying something. As for this 1st round pick, get the best "BPA" you have on your board. If you have intel other teams are trying to jump you and you have 8 minutes, you do what you have to do. Overpay if you have to but don't do a Pittsburg and call the man only to have another team pick him.....

I love the aggressiveness! Get your dude! Later picks are a crap shoot anyway! We can always trade back and pick up another pick.

The story out now is that the Titans were going to trade in front of the Texans for the Rutledge. If the Texans were going to pay a premium, then we should of been able to embarrass the Titans by letting them call Rutledge to congratulate him on their selection while the Texans are on the clock selecting him. We should of got a Malaki Lemon moment.;)

    Both are important:
Efficient Allocation of Resources & Draft "Hit" Rate

Being really good at one can mask a deficiency in the other.

I think Nick is above average on his hit rate, but he's easily in the bottom 20% of GMs when it comes to the allocation of resources for draft day trades.

If he could plug his resource management leaks on draft day, IMO he'd be a top 3 GM.

clearly there were other players you liked better and it is absolutely clouding your opinion here. it was not much of an overpay if he was their guy. i think, conceptually, he is EXACTLY what we need on the o-line. whatevs

And this all assumes a neutral market, which the draft never is. If another team is trying to jump the same spot, or Houston thinks their target is gone in two picks, the price isn’t dictated by the chart you looked at; it’s dictated by demand. That’s real draft value, not a static formula on one of many charts.

Love this projection brother, but I think Delp is likely got a higher grade than the draft gurus are setting. I could be wrong, but could see him going mid-2nd to mid-3rd.
