It's both, but I'm not a fan of poking the bear when Trump is the type that would do the stupid thing just to try and show how he's manly.

I agree, but I think the critique is more about Trump eroding his own credibility with the extremely bellicose rhetoric that lands as just that — rhetoric.

What credibility was there left to erode?

Guys, what’s the endgame here? Being down 0-2 isn’t the end of the world, but if Ime is claiming we’ve won and the other team has no cards left while we have all the cards, I’m not sure what to make of it.

He's too scared to invade and his ego cannot let him walk away because that would be losing the deal and it would be obvious to everyone. So, we are stuck in this kinda war that is costing us a few billion a day, significantly harming our strategic priorities around the globe, and wreaking havoc on the US and the international economies. What a way to celebrate the 250th.

After 250 years, when it comes to electing the leader of our country Americans couldn't have done much worse.

Escalation is happening … we seized ships yesterday; Iran seized ships this morning

    MSC is Italian

Word is there was no warning, and master of the ship fired-upon even said they had permission

Iran claims seizure of two MSC-operated boxships while transiting the Strait of Hormuz
    • Two large MSC-operated containerships were seized or fired upon after Iran claimed they lacked transit permits, despite crew reports of no prior warnings
    • A third vessel, the Silmar‑operated Euphoria, was also targeted hours later, though it escaped damage and continued toward the Gulf of Oman
    • The incidents follow the US Navy’s seizure of the Iranian‑flagged Touska, intensifying an already volatile security environment in the Strait of Hormuz

The only solution is to send Ime to the Strait - make him personally responsible for keeping it open.

Hopefully, Trump keeps this up long enough to doom Republican control of the House and Senate, but it resolves itself before a Democratic Congress has to solve it for him.

    April 28th or May 1st

The last date of the 60 days the War Powers Act gives Trump to wage war for 60 days + one 30 day extension for withdrawal. Congress isn't going to authorize the war. I don't see it. But, Trump will just ignore it anyway because there is no enforcement mechanism(s) and nobody can do anything about it. He's not criminally liable for anything obviously as the SC gave him immunity on his acting duties. But, potentially a consideration as an impeachable offense later if it went that way.

The way this is playing out right now is scary.

Granted there isn't a ground assault, but it can been nearly two months.... and there are extensions, etc... yet there is no viable solution either side will agree with.

The longer this goes on, the more I am concerned about something that will set this off.

We have both sides taking ships.

We have incompetent leadership at the top of the US military. We have a thin skinned President that isn't going to be as impacted by long term ramifications because he is old and a lame duck and doesn't give a **** about his party or country.

We don't entirely know what we have in Iran, but we know that Trump has galvanized them.

We have Israeli leadership that wants war.... we have China feeling pretty good about themselves....

I could see someone associated, even loosely with Iran doing something and the US overreacting and starting a ground war.

The handling of this has been very poor.

As I have said before --- if we were going in, we had to be willing to sacrifice and be in a long time, and we were not willing to do that at the time, and we still are not.... but all it takes is someone with motive to turn this into "us versus them".

Realistically, Impeachment (with a conviction that is) is only going to be possible in 2028 or those 3 weeks he'll have left in January 2029. Dems aren't going to have the votes in the Senate, even if they impeach him again. It is possible Trump could dig himself in so deep that Republicans see this as a bigger bloodbath than 2008 so they finally are willing to convict, but until then, they need him, so they won't touch him. I think the 25th is more likely, and it won't happen either.
