    I’d tell him if they’re under .500 on June 1 he’s gone.

Add Lambert to the list of unlucky pitchers. XFIP 2.31 era 7.20

Lambert was the TENTH starting pitcher Houston has used this season, which started just 3 weeks ago.
    1. Hunter Brown: pitched well in 2 starts before injuring his shoulder. Likely out until June.
    2. Tatsuya Imai: had 2 horrible starts and 1 good start before going on the IL with arm fatigue which I’m pretty sure is code for “emotional damage”. Return timeline unknown.
    3. Cristian Javier: pitched terribly in 3 starts before going on the IL with a shoulder injury, out until June.
    4. Lance McCullers Jr.: Pitched very well if inconsistently and had bad luck with defense and batted balls. Healthy but the time bomb ticks.
    5. Mike Burrows: Mediocre performance across 4 starts resulting in awful numbers after bad luck and defense. The closest thing Houston has to a reliable SP.
    6. Spencer Arrighetti: Late start to the season after a mild injury and paternity leave. Looked fantastic in his first start.
    7. Cody Bolton: Mediocre performance in 2 starts resulting in awful numbers after bad luck and defense, then went on the IL with a back injury suffered after getting hit with the ball. Out at least 2 more weeks.
    8. Ryan Weiss: Mediocre performance in 1 start resulting in awful numbers after bad luck and defense.
    9. Colton Gordon: Actually pitched very well in his start but was victimized by terrible batted ball luck.
    10. Peter Lambert: Actually pitched very well in his start but was victimized by terrible batted ball luck.
Seeing how many guys are posting high BABIP makes me thing something might be wrong with Houston’s defensive positioning.

Dustin Harris had been designated for assignment by the White Sox on Wednesday. He went 3-12 with an RBI in 6 games for them this season.

Highlight or lowlight of the season. The Astros roster moves. Picking up Harris with 58 MLB at bats.

That’s weird, Harris is out of options. So either Houston is going to keep him on the big league roster or immediately DFA him to try to sneak him thru waivers, and thought that was worth risking France.

Is there a reason the Astros need a LF that was released from one of the worst offenses in baseball, while giving up a pitcher who, while awful, is not injured?

    No reason. Just Dana.

Makes as much sense as trading doobie for Nick Allen.

Brown needs to go. Take Espada and Miller with you.

So he gets a guy with 56 career at bats to solve a problem. Strapped for money? Or stupidity? Or both?

It feels like an I.L. stint for Loperfido is incoming.

Harris has been average in a tiny sample size and is essentially free.

I did not have " claim a guy who the White Sox waived" on my 2026 bingo card.

I'm really not a believer in Matthews, however if we have another injury in the OF and he's still not getting regular starts what's even the point of him on the roster.

If they think he's worth keeping on the roster he should be playing at least semi regularly.

If Loperfido’s injury is not serious or if Cole or Meyers will be back soon it may just be a short fill in to get a better look at him and slip him thru waivers to stash him in AAA.

It’s very likely not a significant move. France has already passed thru waivers once. So has Harris.

Lambert was impressive. Imai and Burrows have more or less looked like ****. Gordon is intriguing but I worry he’s someone who’s always going to have a homer problem given his limited velocity.

What is the current status of Jason Alexander? I know he was a scrap heap pickup for the Astros last year, but he would be our best SP right now based on last year's numbers. He consistently gave innings with a good ERA. Seems like he'd be a potentially better option than some of the random people they've tried thus far this year.

He pitched pretty well last year in about 5 starts, most of that over a nice 3 game stretch in August.

He looked pretty bad in 5 of his last 6 starts. But then the entire team was ******** the bed at that time.

yeah ummm the 5mm plus salary that 'doobie' was making is THE REASON he was traded for Allen. you don't seem to grasp the concept that economics matter and saving 5mm plus in salary was necessary considering where the Astros stood vs. various aprons. The problem is not this trade. The problem is starting Allen more than once a month. Dubon at this point in his salary and career is a luxury the Astros cannot afford. Maybe if the Astros didn't have crap contracts like McCullers, this wouldn't be the case. But either way, seems weird to wax poetic on a middling player like Dubon. *That's* the reason the Astros are 4,5 games under .500. Lol

Allen is only starting this much because Pena is injured and Correa will more than likely get injured if he plays SS everyday.
