I thought Atalanta would put up at least a little fight...but it was like y'all were playing against, well, Tottenham. Liverpool deserved to lose by a larger margin. Amazing to me that Van Dijk is the highest paid defender in the world and that Konate is considered a good player. As a United fan, I hope they extend both of their contracts in perpetuity...because they just get worse week by week. Newcastle looked good against Barca and really could've come out of that ahead. It definitely was a penalty but still they're unlucky in that.
Funny story relating to the Newcastle/Barca match on Tuesday. A Barca fan purchased tickets for St. James' Park for a Tuesday match. Turns out...League 1 side Exeter City's stadium is also named St. James' Park. They were home playing Lincoln in a League 1 game. Poor guy was about as far between 2 points in England as you could be...Exeter being in the very southwest of England and Newcastle in the northeast, about 10 hours apart. At least he got to see a match that day...just not the one he was expecting. He must've thought he was getting a hell of a deal on the ticket, too.
Gotta keep this thread alive. CL Quarters are in. Think PSG, Barca and Arsenal will advance. Bayern's chances to eliminate Real haven't been better in at least ten years, don't think their defense can stop Kane, Olise and Diaz. International break now. Hope for our players it is a break indeed and they have to play at least only one game. Real awaits shortly after.
I think it will be PSG, Bayern, Arsenal, and Barca. I agree with you...Real's defense will struggle against Bayern. I think PSG beats Liverpool easily. Barca and Atleti will be a knockdown drag out fight but Barca's quality will come through in the end. Arsenal will have a tougher time with Sporting than what would be expected. I wouldn't be surprised if they lose the 1st leg. Arsenal absolutely laid an egg yesterday against City in the EFL Cup final. Joked with a Tottenham supporting friend of mine that no matter how horrid their season continues to be (starting straight in the face of relegation), they still have more trophies than Arsenal in this decade. I hate the timing of this break for United. Playing well and now we're off until mid April. I think we've just about got a CL spot solidified thanks to Chelsea and Liverpool continuing to regress. At least there's good reason to pay attention to this international break for the USMNT. This should be, with a few exceptions (Tyler Adams and Sergino Dest to name a couple), the roster going into June and playing Belgium and Portugal is a great test.
It's that or he goes to Roma. I don't see him coming to MLS. Casemiro, on the other had, is talking to Inter Miami.
Arsenalol doing Arsenalol things. In the span of a few weeks going from "WE'RE GOING TO WIN THE QUAD!" to squeaky butt time. Their lead in the EPL is likely uncatchable at this point, but if results go sideways over the next few weeks (which include a match against City), it could make the month of May quite interesting. If they somehow manage to come away from this season without a trophy, Arteta almost certainly will be sacked.
Are you not entertained?! Not even the referee could help Real this time, even though our guys disappointed, to be honest. Should've been a clearer thing, still happy and exhausted now.
I think y'all are the favorites (also, congrats on winning the league, again, I suppose). It's possible Arsenal and Atleti play to a 0-0 draw through both legs as they just slug it out. I honestly think Arsenal needs to make a decision. I think they're going to have to pick a competition because if they try to go all in on both, they'll likely lose both...and it's just so funny. On another note, it looks like my United have just about secured Champions League for next season. It wasn't pretty but I couldn't care less about how it looked. Results are all that matters and winning 1-0 at Chelsea looks good no matter what. Looking more and more like Carrick at least deserves the job on a shorter term deal...1-yr with incentives to extend it. And it's looking more and more like Ruben Amorim was just a horrible coach and I'm still a little bitter about the points dropped early on that could actually have us in this title race. But...after finishing 14th last season, I was just hoping for top 10 and maybe Europa League. This has been a wonderful surprise.
@Raz...how's your heart after that 1st leg. That was one of the more bonkers games I've ever seen. I was in a meeting while it was on in the background. Every time I looked up, the score had changed. And, naturally and predicably, Arsenal and Atleti was a snooze fest.
Couldn't sleep until 2 or 3 in the morning, full of adrenalin. Next week will probably be just the same. Since we've got home court, I'm still positive.
