Carlos Lee is pretty much the only player he could be referring to. Martinez came up on a roster that had been completely torn down. Pence and Bourn were on the team in his first season but they were traded before he came up. Carlos Lee is the only established veteran who was around.
Framber imploded for 8 runs in 5 innings. It only took one game to inflate his ERA to 4.76 on the season. Good to know that some things don't change. But to be honest. I'd take a loss every 3 games from a SP right now (.667 winning percentage), just not at his price tag.

Carlos Lee was all about Carlos Lee. When he was younger with the White Sox he was generally liked and considered a good guy. Once he got established and money, all he cared about was his farm - his personal comfort and his numbers. He was not a guy that really cared about the game or other players. He would have hit 500 homers if he had just average interest and fitness.

With 10y/350m they would have been locked in terrible deal for the last 5y of the deal so chasing WS just now with unlimited money why not just pay whatever for short contract and let him retire after that leaving Dodgers free to overpay someone else later.
