Burrows can improve his command but that also ties into pitch sequencing and game strategy. Burrows doesn’t seem very comfortable or confident out there. His change up is elite and his fastball is a good #2 pitch when set up and used properly. The problem is that it is obvious the pitch calling has been very bad - but I don’t know how much of that is Diaz calling a poor game, and how much is it that Burrows is stubborn.
Judging by the fact that our entire pitching staff seems to have walk issues, I'd say signs point to Diaz. On second thought, maybe this is all a ruse on the Astros staff to try and get Diaz off the team.
Yainer called for a FB down the middle? FB wasn't the problem. It just should've been somewhere not near the strike zone -- worse than the first one. That said.. Diaz needs to hit when Vasquez sits. His SLG finally trumped his OBP so there's that. Next, Paredes.
Astros return home to the friendly confines of #1 offense and a 5 game winning streak !!! If the bats start really failing AND the pitching continues league-worst/near-worst AND Espada has lost the team, how bad a W-L would be needed before Espada is relieved ?? There has to be a limit regardless of any injury excuse. If the Astros start pacing worst than the MLB record... 15-45... 20-game losing streak....
Espada is such a ****ing clown. Anyone still defending this ******* because of injuries or whatever else just doesn’t get it. There’s still plenty of talent playing out there, this isn’t the 2011 Astros. Year after year getting off to these terrible starts with Espada at the helm.
