I believe Amen has the HIGHEST Ceiling, but Reed the highest floor.

Amen just needs to learn to shoot - which is no small task.

Reed needs to learn how to create his own shot - easier task.

Reed will always score more than Amen if he is the Points guard.

These are the two along with Alpi and Bari I would build around.

To clarify, I genuinely said Amen has both the highest floor and the highest ceiling (I think Amen right now is currently a much more solid overall player than Reed, hence higher floor,) I just think Amen has a lot lower change of realising his potential, where Reed looks like he probably will. Lower potential overall, but could well be the better player in the end if he realises his and Amen doesn't, which requires a higher leap. Obviously because I'm not sucking Amen's dick in the post though I've upset Hemingway (shocker!)

    I didn't say only, I said first.
    Words have meaning.

In a lot of instances it's the same knuckle draggers going from one crush to another.

    Is this a real question?

Poll results speak for themselves. I'd prefer that a civil war not break about between those that think that Amen is Lisan-al-gaib and those that think he's Tayshaun Prince with more bounce and less shot.

this question is like your AP calculus exam randomly asking you what’s 2+2…this is a little too easy

Amen has a way higher ceiling and floor than Reed Sheppard…it’s not even close

I was trying to think of a witty response, but it's 11pm on a Friday night and I'm already a bottle of wine in so everything's falling flat (and I'm tipsy so things are naturally funnier.) I was trying to use Euclidean space but couldn't make it funny, my apologies haha.

To me, Reed is obviously going to be an elite shooter with good passing. That’s in the bag.

In addition, there are some things that are almost automatically going to improve. I project that he will become a passable midrange scorer and put on enough muscle to not be bullied. I think his handle will improve at least slightly. When I add these things into the equation, that’s a very high value player. It’s the kind of offensive player who doesn’t need to score 25+ points in order to demolish your defensive plan. A large amount of 3’s plus assists and non-negative defense has always been a high value nba player.

So on that basis I think Reed has the higher floor. He can be excellent on offense and pretty good on defense. However, Amen has the much higher ceiling because he could be elite on one end and excellent on the other. Basketball is just half offense plus half defense.

id say Amen has a higher ceiling and floor - with one caveat - injury.

If Amen works his shooting, he could be a perennial all-star... if a bad injury kills his explosiveness - he's done...

Whilst i do see the sentiment on that, the dude's a machine physically. I'd be shocked if he was injury prone outside of freak accidents, i think that is one similarity he probably does have with LeBron, he's an absolute specimen so should likely have a fair bit of longevity.

I refuse to vote in this but I think their ceiling together as they grow is higher. They balance one another out as a guard combo

i hear ya... and obviously i wish nothing but health and prosperity for all Rocket players... but i'm considering how much of his game is due to superior athleticism.. and I'm just figuring in the potential for freak accident - as high in the air as that dude gets, if he gets undercut or something...

Oh i do get it, i guess i'm looking more optimistically that freak accidents are rare. If nothing else he's so physically developed that should make his body somewhat more resilient. He's also fairly conservative when he does get up in the air, i think your flashier dunkers like Jalen actually probably have more risk because the additional acrobatics increase the chances of a sketchier landing.

I thought when you used the comparative adjustive -est, you were comparing at least three things. If you want to compare two things, you use -er.

Sorry, this kind of things bug me.

I think they both have big gaps in their games. It's actually pretty rare for a player to start their careers with big deficiencies and then make them a skill. People just remember all the outliers.

If I had to, i would bet that they both remain versions of who they currently are, just better.

I think Amen will just learn how to best create short range shots and layups for himself while limiting jumpers the way Giannis did most of his career. Maybe he gets 30ish% on 3s or just enough where teams actually bother closing out. I think Reed will learn to shoot more threes in contested situations. And, I think he will learn to better navigate screens to free himself for more midrange jumpers.

I'm not holding my breath for the next Lebron or Steph Curry.

And the redundant set of poll options, just with different names expressing the same set of choices, bugs me

I'm sick of all the talk about highest ceilings and lowest floors. Who's got the widest walls?
