How the hell do sports stadiums become part of state spending is beyond me. I can get the idea of local spending on this stuff, even if I hate it being essentially corporate welfare. But asking people across Texas to fund local sports teams in Houston/DFW/San Antonio just feels an extra layer of wrong.

Well I guess you can look at it as they know it will bring in revenue that eventually trickles down to the state getting some too.

funny enough I was curious about why 59 randomly became I-69 years ago and found out it’s because if you make a freeway or highway an interstate freeway, then the government has to help fund it and not just the state, so Texas start converting their freeways to interstates to get more government funding.
It’s smart, so Texas does the same game too.

it’s just how the government and politics work

there’s been games I had damn near the whole row to myself

and yeah, everybody’s on their phone or just sitting there silent…that after showing up an hour late

Why even come to the game if that’s all you’re gonna do?

so many games the person sitting next to me was so silent, I was about to check for a pulse just for them to finally come alive when it was the 4th quarter and free Whataburger was on the line

it takes something crazy like a 22 game win streak for TC to be genuinely rocking while so many other teams can be mediocre or worse and the fans are still loud and engaged

the saddest part is when they try to make the crowd chant “let’s go Rockets” and nobody does it

    LET's GO...ROCK----ETS!!!

    ("F*** you, I'm tired.")

We can also add how sad it is that the Rockets organization had to put together a "Rowdies" section just to have fans who actually made noise. While the rest of the sections could be called JACKS**T, as in, "Me? What am I doing? Jacks**t."

Trump became a great businessman once he became President. Invade this country with oil. Invade that country with oil. Cryptocurrency. Giant bribes to pardon people.

Before the Presidency? Four bankruptcies. Smart!

Oh, wait, this isn't the D&D.

    Unclaimed Funds.

Other states do it too, most recently Ohio for the Browns and their new domed stadium retail complex in Brook Park next to the airport.

Reminder: Check to see if the state owns you money before it goes elsewhere https://www.claimittexas.gov/

    https://www.houstonchronicle.com/sp...novation-upgrade-tilman-fertitta-22195107.php

Work will begin after the completion of the current Rockets season and is expected to be done by the fall of 2027, which will be in time for the Rockets' 2027-28 season and the 2028 Republican National Convention.

Included as part of renovation will be redoing the building's practice facility to be ready for the Houston Comets, who are making their return to the WNBA in 2027. The facility previously was used by the Rockets before they got their own practice facility in 2024.

The new atrium, equipped with digital displays, will provide increased flexibility for events and pre-event activities. A lounge for season ticketholders will add nearly 5,000 square feet of premium hospitality and meeting space, featuring an open design that keeps guests connected to the energy of the atrium while maintaining a more private setting.

The new team store will more than double the current retail footprint and support merchandise needs for all Toyota Center events, with additional point-of-sale and self-checkout kiosks to improve speed of service.

The south entry along Bell Street will be reconfigured to enhance the arrival experience. Guests will have a direct view of the arena bowl upon entry and access to a new hospitality space for all fans, instantly connecting them to the energy of the event.

As part of the project, all existing suites will be fully renovated and modernized, creating a significantly enhanced premium experience across multiple levels of the arena. Upgrades will include refreshed interiors, improved sightlines, upgraded furnishings and finishes, and enhanced hospitality functionality designed to better support corporate entertainment, client engagement, and networking.

The popular Skybridge entrance, connecting Toyota Center to the Toyota Tundra Garage, will receive an overhaul aimed at improving the premium arrival experience.
