This seems insane. Castle and Harper are good not great players but to say they are the best two up and coming is crazy. What parameters are you going off? VJ Edgecombe could be better than both. And there are soo many good guards in the nba a lot of which are still really young. Tyrese Maxey is only 25.

Also a guy named Amen Thompson is ranked way higher than both of them,

I think stopping the Spurs is all about stopping their corner threes. Castle and Fox can't shoot, take away their corner 3's and they will lose. It's probably not easy to do, but that's how I'd try to stop them. If you can get Wemby into foul trouble that wouldn't hurt either. They really look like Wemby and some good not great players.

Wemby looks like an injury waiting to happen. They might not even become a basketball dynasty if he cannot stay on the court for long stretches during the regular season and the playoffs. It would be exciting, though, if the Rockets could play at par with them and revive the Dream versus the Admiral rivalry. That was a wonderful time in Rockets history.

Harper was not quite there yet, but has been a rookie, provided a spark......there is no way they win 60 Wins without Castle, very instrumental.

Espec. when Wemby was out and coming off the bench ......nothing wrong with what I said, they had the highest driving percentages at the moment I said that.....

What does driving percentage have to do with being the two best up and coming guards. There is no world where any gms out there think that, if we offered Amen for either one of the spurs would instantly accept,

Amen is a very good utility guy, but both those guys can create and win you games down the stretch. It's a different value proposition.

The Spurs are stacked from every angle

Lmao if you cannot finish inside, driving draws defenders and leaves shooters wide open, in this era of spacing lmao....

They can also use the short roll of course to initiate action.

You must be obstinately living under a tiny rock.

They also would not trade Amen for their guards, the guard system need multiple to swarm the opponent.

Trading position for position plus fillers should be the way to go.

The only thing that may stop them is Wemby's health. I'm still not convinced a guy with a body like that can stay on the court consistently long-term. And let's hope the NBA and Silver don't gift them anymore high lottery picks. It was absurd how the Mavs and Spurs wound up #1 and #2 in last year's draft.

They start to manage his young arse like they do with a 35 year old Kawhi now......playing close to 55-65 games a year.

Or what Udoka should have done with KD, but he is playing him 38 minutes a contest.

He might win MVPs barely cracking 60 to 70 games.......when he is somewhat healthy.

Silver might modify the pre-requirement to 60 games.

Not to mention, Knuepple is the #1 up and coming guard

?? Great 1 video proves he’s the best up and coming guard? No one is arguing the spurs don’t have good players, but you outright just said they have the best 2 young guards and that is just 100% false.

I can do the same with Amen......drives are important, whether it is a Rocket or a Spur, there is no bias....nor should there be......

Lmao best up and coming .....I have not put a time stamp on that, it could mean they are the best up and coming in that half a year or 1 year.......on deliberate basis.

Also open a dictionary, upcoming means they are coming and aren't there yet. lmao.
Also Amen is not a pure guard in my book so while you might be offended, I never put them in direct comparison either.

I never said they are best players period.

Probably already been posted by someone else but there should be an option that says Wemby Injury. That's the #1 thing that will hurt their chances at any sort of dynasty.

Rockets really could have used James Harden and should have made that happen. I know he's a playoff choker but when he's just setting up your offense and splashing 3's you got something special on the offensive end.

I'm sorry, but even though I don't think Castle will be all that, Harper has a HUGE upside. He doesn't even play like a rookie. His 3-ball percentage is over 50% the last month and a half. His production and efficiency as a rookie playing <25 min/game on a 60-win team is exceptional. I think he'll be in MVP conversations in future seasons. Castle never will be. I've loved VJ Edgecomb since summer league, but Dylan Harper is clearly the better prospect based on stats and also the "eye test". If VJ can gain ~20-25 lbs, maintain his quickness and become an efficient player, maybe I'll put him in the same category as Harper.

Maxey is definitely great, but he's in his 6th year and Harper is a 20 year-old rookie.

People here on this Rockets forum seem to draw blanks about Dylan Harper. Next year when he plays 30+ mins/game like Edgecomb does now, I think some folks are gonna go "uh oh".

I never said he wasn’t good. Just in no way are castle and Harper the best up and coming guards. If I had to pick I’d take Harper too it’s like harden vs Westbrook. One is insanely athletic other one is just more skilled and Id take harden all day.

Who will stop the Spurs dynasty?

Very simple answer: human biology. Spurs are better off mortgaging their future for these few years of contention before Wemby's wheels inevitably fall off.
