No, the WNBA sucks and nobody but their families give a flying hoot. Is anyone else bothered that Fertitta is focusing on buying another team vs fixing the Rockets? Wish we had an owner who owned only the Rockets and not 20 other entities. That’s why we haven’t made a trade deadline move since he’s owned the team.

I agree WNBA does not have a strong fanbase and has never been profitable without NBA subsidies. I haven't looked hard enough to see if they're on a plausible path towards that threshold. But the Comets still have a place in Houston's hearts and I do think they could probably get a good following. I have only watched maybe 2 dozen WNBA games. There was a playoff series many years ago I think with Diana Taurasi that was super competitive and fun to watch, but they just don't have the shot making and playmaking abilities that the far more athletic men do.

WNBA basketball is the mar1juana after you've been doing NBA meth. That high just ain't high enough after you've seen NBA-style basketball.

As for Fertitta, what objective evidence is there that Fertitta has been an obstacle in improving the team? Not paying Ariza is really the only time it seemed we chose the financially responsible thing to do over keeping the chemistry going. At the time 15/yr (iirc) for Ariza was a LOT. And this was the year after Ariza didn't do squat for us in the playoffs. We misvalued his role in the grand scheme -- very similar to FVV's role with this team (just in a glue-guy sense). And then Ariza never really did anything for anyone else in his career.

We started locking down and paying our core guys while also spending to bring in (supposedly) strong backups, e.g. DFS, and thankfully didn't over extend the offer to Tari.

Who do you think the Rockets didn't get because of financial reasons?

Ironically we may get JuJu Watkins, who should be the next star player. So if we get eye candy from the teammates and the new main talent then they may actually get attendance

Ah... I tend to forget track and field involves games that doesnt involve actually moving/running fast.

He wants to be relevant, anything beyond that is too much for him.

Coby White. Stone still inexplicably has a job AND was hired primarily for being a lawyer who could best handle the cap and Fertitt’s money. He certainly was hired for his basketball acumen.

You know that Fertitta intervened in a deal for Coby White? Or that we didn't get him because we were cheap? Or are you choosing to believe that to fit your preconceived notion of a cheap owner?

Plenty of GMs in all sports are lawyers and not former players or coaches. Rafael Stone may not have been a good basketball player, but he did play D3 college ball. He is not unfamiliar with basketball.

I have a thing for Juju Watkins. Think it’s the eyes. I’ll definitely tune in if she gets picked.

Comets have a better GM than the Rockets.

Wow they got 'the machine' Pelton.

Even though he's there for the Comets, can easily imagine if Patrick wants to tap on a new resource in the brain trust, now there is another voice besides Ime and Stone.
