For sure, but just like players, money comes first for NFL owners. When it comes to character and motives, I don't believe the two groups are as different from each other as it seems.

Totally agree this is the direction the Texans are heading. I think it's the smart play in light of how last season played out.

Even those teams are Marketing Teams. Just more successful, at least for a minute.

You want ownership of the team you root for to have a burning desire to win. The Texans org/McNair's dont have this and never have had this. Teams like the Oats/Eagles/Rams etc... have this. It is what it is when an org puts marketing over winning.

    The best marketing is WINNING.
We had as good of a chance to win the SB as anyone last year. Things don't always go as planned.

There are or where plenty of owners all about winning that have fallen flat on their face.

Al Davis made some crazy decisions
    Remember Dan Snyder??

    24 yrs and counting.

I'm glad you look at this the way you do.

I'm more in the prove it mode because of the history of the Texans org. Dad thing is I was in this same mode with CJ last yr at this time and boy did he prove something to me.

    I agree with this.

Cal McNair, Bob McNair and their wives all seem like very nice and lovely people.

However, this also really seems like the Bears -- it is a family institutional business, and as long as the team isn't embarrassingly bad, and the coaches and players stay out of trouble and represent the community -- winning is secondary.

I would love to work for the Texans if I were an employee - great work/home balance, solid pay, little stress ..... but as a fan of the organization, it is hard knowing that the owner is more interested in hiring people he likes or flatter him - and is more concerned with how he is viewed by his River Oaks friends than he is winning.

“I was very nervous. I could’ve ended up all the way in Cali or a different team that I really didn’t like, maybe get into a bad culture. Being in Houston, I’ve experienced being in a good culture, I didn’t want to leave that or chance it.”

On Texas: “No state tax huh, how about that. It definitely matters. I was in Minnesota & those taxes was taking all my money. Being here the paychecks looking different.”

Good team/culture & no state income tax are definitely factors for FAs

I can barely understand anything she said. Between pitch and mumbling, it was a wash. Anything of value said for those who wish to interpret?

I'm guessing a Horse related team like Broncos or Colts.
